Makes 20 Bumblebees
Ingredients
- Honey ¼ Cup (85g)
- Crunchy Peanut Butter 1 Cup (240g)
- Rolled Oats ½ Cup (43g)
- Milk Powder ½ Cup (62g)
- Chocolate drops ½ Cup (100g) + 40 drops (for eyes)
- Pretzels 20 ish (cut or broken in half)
Tools
- Bowl for mixing
- Small glass or metal bowl (for double boiler on small saucepan)
- Platter
- Rack
- Spatula
- Wooden Spoon
- Knife
- Small Saucepan/Pot
Method
- Combine Honey, Peanut Butter, Oats and Milk Powder in a bowl, mix these together with a Wooden Spoon or Spatula until it resembles a dough.
- Using your hands, mould small elongated logs to shape the Bumblebee, roughly 2 tspns per Bee, then refrigerate.
- Fill the small Saucepan with boiling water to sit just below a bowl's bottom for a double boiler.
- Place the Chocolate drops (excluding drops for eyes) in the bowl on top of the small Saucepan to temper, gently heat on a low to medium heat, not boiling water.
- When the Chocolate has started to melt, stir it gently until it's all melted.
- Remove Bumblebee logs and place on a wire rack, using a Spatula or Spoon drizzle the melted chocolate back and forth to create Bees stripes.
- Then for the Bees wings, dip the pretzel halves, broken ends in the remaining melted chocolate and place on top of Bees stripes.
- For the eyes use the Chocolate drops dipped in remaining melted chocolate and fix on one end of the Bee.
Side Notes
- If the initial mixture is too dry, add a small amount of extra Honey or Peanut Butter to get to a mouldable dough stage.
- You can create the pretzel wings by chopping a pretzel in half with a knife or by snapping in half with your fingers.
- An alternative for the wings is using Almond slices.
- Any small broken pieces of leftover pretzels can create a quick snack by rolling in the leftover melted chocolate.
- These keep well in a Tin or Container at room temperature, if your climate is warm consider keeping in the fridge.
